The Power of Webinars

Depending on what sort work you do, you might have never heard the term webinar, or you may have attended a number of them.

In this post I am going to explain what they are and some of the benefits they offer to any small business.

A few years ago Teleseminars evolved into a fantastic tool for all sorts of businesses, from info marketing, services and coaching through to high-end products and wholesale offers.
The application of Teleseminars were just as diverse including prospecting, sales presentations, coaching, referral generation, offers to the existing client base; joint ventures and the list goes on.

Unfortunately this fantastic business revolution never really took off in New Zealand.

Why? -you ask. Well the cost of a teleseminar (or ‘bridge’ as it is referred to in the industry) was far too expensive in this country. It was cheaper to get a US based solution, but the mental barrier of getting customers and prospects to make a toll call proved too great.

So why am I telling you this?

Because Webinars are the new Teleseminars. Webinars have all of the benefits of Teleseminars plus many, many more. Plus, importantly, the US based solutions cost no more for local prospects and customers to attend than anyone else in the world.

Some of the additional benefits of webinars over Teleseminars include:

  • Powerpoints – guests being able to see a graphic representation on screen as you are talking about it
  • Webcam – If you wish you can use a webcam so that your guests can see you. (Brand yourself)
  • Video clips – You can show video clips for more impact (in fact the webinar software I use includes links to youtube)
  • Text chat – allow people to send through messages by text chat while you are talking so that you can answer questions etc.
  • File Sharing – You can share files that you are talking about with your guests
  • Guest management – You can easily maintain control by allow others to speak or muting them , booting them off, even banning them from returning.
  • Social Media – My set up includes a button that participants can click in the webinar itself, that will post on their wall that they are attending my webinar.
  • Easy recording – Webinars can record both visual and audio in a video format, that can be used for replays, or for those that could not make the live event.

This is exciting because I have found an extremely cost effective solution that offers a great level of service.

So what can you do with this? –Perhaps the question is what can’t you do? Or more accurately: what can you imagine?

Let me give you a few ideas for starters:

  • Showcase your expertise to prospects
  • Create and present an offer to current clients
  • Create an offer for a niche, and present the offer in a free Webinar
  • Use a webinar to generate referral business
  • Use webinar as the medium for a coaching program (and sell the program via webinar)
  • Use a free webinar to gain prospects or clients with a Joint Venture Partner
  • If you have valuable skills (or a skilled guest) run a paid webinar to get some quick cash

Again, the list is limited only by your imagination.
